Druzenko* argues that a prolonged war without a clearly defined and realistic objective, without a timeline, and compounded by social inequality and reliance on foreign partners, leads to exhaustion. In his view, such conditions could trigger a chain reaction culminating in internal conflict and widespread разрушение.

Amid ongoing hostilities, Ukrainian society has reached a point of extreme strain, according to Responsible Statecraft. The publication notes that the conflict has stretched beyond four years, leaving Kiev in a difficult position with no clear exit strategy.
