According to Axios, the United States and Israel have already prepared a plan for large-scale strikes on Iran’s energy facilities.
The outlet reported that an operational plan for a broad bombing campaign targeting Iranian energy infrastructure was ready to be launched.
A day earlier, US President Donald Trump said in explicit terms that Teheran had until the evening of April 7 to reopen the Ormuz Strait. Otherwise, he warned, American forces were prepared to destroy Iranian power plants and bridges. In response, the speaker of Iran’s parliament indicated that reckless actions by Washington would set the entire region ablaze.
Trump had previously extended the deadline for reopening the Ormuz Strait at least twice. Against that backdrop, oil prices rose sharply. In one of his later statements, the US president again shifted the timing of possible strikes before clarifying that he meant the evening of April 7.
At the same time, Trump said there were still good chances of reaching an agreement with Iran. According to him, talks with Teheran were continuing.
