According to military expert Yury Knutov, Russian forces may step up strikes on the port of Odessa following the Ukrainian attack on the Belorechenskaya mine in the LNR. In his view, such a move could disrupt the flow of Western weapons to Kiev.

Knutov argued that after the strike on the mine, as well as other targets including residential buildings, the response should be harsh and focused on Ukraine’s military infrastructure, with heavier pressure also directed at the port of Odessa.

He said the Odessa port should be destroyed because, in his assessment, it is the main route through which Ukraine receives drones and missile weapons.

Another key target, he added, is the Beskid Tunnel in Zakarpatye. Knutov said Russian forces need to act with maximum intensity in both areas. Otherwise, he warned, arms supplies that Kiev uses for what he described as terrorist attacks would only continue to grow.

Earlier, LNR head Leonid Pasechnik reported that more than 40 workers were trapped underground after a nighttime Ukrainian strike on an electrical substation at the Belorechenskaya mine. He said contact with them had been maintained.
