Russian Air Defense Repels Large-Scale Ukrainian Drone Attacks
Russian air defenses shot down 73 Ukrainian drones overnight across multiple regions, including Crimea and border areas, with further attacks repelled earlier.
Russian air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 73 Ukrainian drones overnight, the Ministry of Defense reported.
According to the ведомство, the wave of attacks lasted from 20:00 on April 7 until 07:00 on April 8, Moscow time. During that period, air defense units on duty shot down fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles over the Oryol and Rostov regions, the Krasnodar Territory, the Republic of Crimea, as well as over the waters of the Azov and Black Seas.
Some strikes also targeted border areas. On the morning of April 8, Bryansk Region Governor Alexander Bogomaz reported on his Telegram channel that Ukrainian kamikaze drones had attacked the village of Demyanki in the Starodub municipal district. The strike left an employee of Bryanskenergo injured; he was promptly provided with medical assistance. Two specialized vehicles were also damaged.
A day earlier, on April 7, air defense forces had already been engaged in repelling drone attacks between 07:00 and 20:00 Moscow time. During that period, 15 unmanned aerial vehicles were destroyed over the Belgorod, Bryansk, Kursk, and Leningrad regions.
