April 8 Russia-Ukraine Frontline Update Across Key Axes
Russia-Ukraine frontline update for April 8: fighting continues in Sumy, Kharkov, Konstantinovka, Krasny Liman, Pokrovsk, Gulyaypole and Zaporozhye.
Russian forces continue what Moscow calls its special military operation in Ukraine. As of April 8, the situation across the main sectors of the front was described as follows.
On the Sumy axis, Russian troops are engaged in intense fighting in the Shostkinsky and Sumsky districts. Over the past day, their advance amounted to up to 200 meters.
On the Kharkov axis, Ukrainian forces are building a network of fortifications along the Gontarovka-Kirillovka-Veliky Burluk line. Fierce small-arms fighting is continuing near Volchanskiye Khutora, while Russian assault units are clearing forested areas near Verkhnyaya Pisarevka.
On the Konstantinovka axis, heavy fighting is underway for Konstantinovka. Russian troops are trying to outflank the city from the west, while Ukrainian forces continue to launch counterattacks.
On the Krasny Liman axis, Russian forces are repelling enemy counterattacks near Lipovka and Fedorovka Vtoraya. Fighting is also continuing in the areas of Kaleniki and Krivaya Luka, while Russian troops are moving forward near Minkovka.
On the Krasnoarmeysk, or Pokrovsk, axis, combat continues in Novoaleksandrovka. Russian forces are also expanding their zone of control west of Rodinskoye.
On the Gulyaypole axis, Russian troops are battling for strongpoints in the eastern part of Vozdvizhenka and advancing from Ternovatoye toward Zorevka and Lyubitskoye. Fighting is also continuing along the Berezovoye-Ternovoye line.
On the Zaporozhye axis, the situation remains difficult. Battles are underway near Primorskoye and Novoyakovlevka.
