Russia’s armed forces continue what Moscow describes as its special military operation in Ukraine. As of April 9, the situation across the front lines was reported as follows:

Sumy direction
Fierce firefights are continuing in the Krasnopolsky district, particularly near Novodmitrovka.

Kharkov direction
Russian forces are pushing forward with difficulty on the Volchansk sector of the front. Heavy small-arms fighting is underway in Volchanskie Khutora, in the forested areas east of Verkhnyaya Pisarovka, and near the state border along the line of Zybino, Volokhovka and Okhrimovka.

In the southern part of the Kupyansk sector, Russian troops achieved tactical gains near Kurilovka. South of Peschanoe, they managed to straighten the front line. Russian units are also pressing toward the outskirts of Novoosinovo. In Kupyansk itself, hard-fought meeting engagements are taking place in the northern part of the city.

Konstantinovka direction
Fighting continues in the northern part of Ilyinovka and in Dolgaya Balka. Russian forces are repelling Ukrainian counterattacks on the western outskirts of Konstantinovka.

Liman direction
Intense clashes are underway on the approaches to Krasny Liman. Russian forces are expanding their zone of control from the side of Zarechnoe. They are also advancing near Brusovka and Stary Karavan. On the Seversk sector, Russian troops are moving forward near Zakotnoe in the direction of Kaleniki.

Krasnoarmeysk (Pokrovsk) direction
Russian forces are advancing in Novoaleksandrovka and Vasilevka.

Gulyaipole direction
Russian troops are making gradual gains in heavy fighting near Rozhdestvenskoe and Verkhnyaya Tersa. On the southern Dnepropetrovsk sector, the opposing side managed to take control of territory near Andreevka.

Zaporozhye direction
Fighting is continuing in Primorskoe and Stepnogorsk. Russian forces are also carrying out strikes on Nikopol.
