Russian Air Defense Repels Massive Drone Attack, Downs 151 UAVs
Russian air defense systems intercepted 151 Ukrainian drones overnight, with major activity in Volgograd, Rostov and Belgorod regions. Details inside.
On the night of April 10, Russian air defense systems repelled a large-scale drone assault, according to the Russian Defense Ministry. In total, 151 Ukrainian fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles were intercepted and destroyed.
The heaviest wave targeted the Volgograd Region, where 57 drones were shot down. Another 48 were eliminated over the Rostov Region, and 35 over the Belgorod Region. Air defenses also downed nine drones above the waters of the Caspian Sea, while single UAVs were intercepted in Kalmykia and the Tambov Region.
Drone activity had already been reported the previous day. Between 08:00 and 20:00 Moscow time on April 9, air defense units destroyed 11 Ukrainian drones. Five of them were brought down in the Belgorod Region, with three each intercepted over the Bryansk and Kursk Regions.
Later that evening, Bryansk Region Governor Aleksandr Bogomaz reported a kamikaze drone strike on a civilian vehicle in the village of Novy Ropsk in the Klimovo District. A local resident was injured in the attack and taken to hospital, where she received medical assistance. The vehicle sustained damage.
