Ukrainian forces attempted a drone strike on the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant-2 under construction in Kurchatov, Governor Alexander Khinshtein reported.

He said the drone fell on the site and damaged one of the buildings with shrapnel. There was no fire hazard, operations at the facility continue as normal, and no casualties were reported. Radiation levels remain within standard limits.

The Kursk plant is one of the largest power suppliers in Central Russia, providing electricity to 19 regions. It currently operates three channel-type reactor units with a combined capacity of three gigawatts.

This was not the first attack on the site. In late August, another Ukrainian drone was shot down near the plant. Upon crashing, it exploded and damaged a transformer, sparking a local fire that was quickly extinguished. No one was injured, and radiation levels stayed within safe ranges. Within days, Unit 3 of the station was restored to full capacity.
