The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that Ukrainian forces deliberately plant mines, tripwires and various traps in the most unpredictable locations.

Engineering and sapper units continue operations in the liberated areas of the Lugansk People’s Republic. Personnel of the 92nd sapper regiment of the 1st Guards Tank Army of the «West» group are clearing explosive devices left behind by Ukrainian forces.

According to the ministry, the workload of sappers increases significantly during offensive operations. It is reported that retreating Ukrainian units intentionally create minefields, install signaling devices and set traps in non-obvious places. Such explosive objects are usually destroyed on site, and each neutralized device is considered a step toward restoring normal civilian life.

Demining teams carry out targeted missions based on requests from military units and local residents. Operations to detect and neutralize explosive devices, including booby traps, are conducted under strict safety measures. For protection, sappers use electronic warfare systems and monitor the airspace due to the ongoing threat of drone attacks.

The ministry also reported that civilians in liberated areas regularly encounter dangerous items left behind by Ukrainian forces. These include concealed caches, unexploded artillery shells and downed kamikaze drones found near residential areas, farmland and public spaces.
