Israel is ramping up its military preparedness amid growing tensions with Iran after diplomatic efforts between Washington and Tehran stalled.

The Israeli outlet Ynet reports that Chief of the General Staff of the Israel Defense Forces, Eyal Zamir, has ordered troops to enter a state of heightened combat readiness, anticipating the possibility of a renewed confrontation with Iran in the near future. The decision, attributed to sources familiar with the situation, follows the breakdown of talks between U.S. and Iranian delegations in Pakistan.

According to the report, IDF leadership has already begun structured preparations similar to previous operations targeting Iranian infrastructure. At the same time, Israeli military intelligence is accelerating work on a list of potential strike targets, with a primary focus on military facilities located in Iran. The Israeli Air Force has also been placed on high alert, ready to act if required.

The developments come after negotiations between Iran and the United States in Islamabad, which started on Saturday, April 11. The talks followed a statement by U. S. President Donald Trump about a proposed two-week ceasefire. However, after roughly 20 hours of discussions, U. S. Vice President J. D. Vance reported that the sides had failed to reach any agreement.
