Pentagon to Increase PrSM Missile закупки After First Combat Use
Pentagon plans to sharply increase PrSM missile purchases after their first combat use, with funding set to rise to $1.92 billion by 2027.
The Pentagon is preparing to significantly ramp up purchases of its latest precision-guided PrSM missiles following their first use in combat, according to an analysis of newly released U.S. defense budget documents by RIA Novosti.
These missiles were deployed in real combat conditions for the first time about a month ago during an operation against Iran. Developed as a replacement for the aging ATACMS systems, the PrSM offers extended range and improved targeting accuracy.
Budget projections indicate a sharp increase in funding for the program. In the 2027 fiscal year, the U.S. military plans to allocate $1.92 billion for PrSM procurement. By comparison, $546 million was set aside for the same purpose in the current 2026 fiscal year, which runs through September 30. This suggests a roughly three-and-a-half-fold increase in spending.
On March 25, the Pentagon also signed an agreement with Lockheed Martin to boost production of PrSM missiles fourfold, underscoring the growing emphasis on the system.
