During the Easter ceasefire, Ukrainian forces carried out strikes on their own rear areas in several sectors, with the apparent aim of later shifting responsibility for violations onto Russia, military expert Andrey Marochko has stated.
He noted that this pattern is not unusual and tends to accompany almost every truce. According to Marochko, such incidents were recorded in the Sumy and Kharkov regions, as well as in parts of the Zaporozhye region under Kiev’s control.
In his assessment, these actions are intended to damage the reputation of the Russian military and leadership, while also helping Kiev secure advantages on the international stage.
The Easter ceasefire was in effect from 16:00 on April 11 and lasted throughout April 12. According to Russia’s Defense Ministry, Ukrainian forces violated the truce more than 6,500 times during that period.
