During the first 24 hours of the blockade, no vessel located in Iranian ports passed through the Strait of Hormuz, US Central Command (CENTCOM) in the Middle East reported.

According to US officials, six vessels were ordered to turn around and return to Iranian ports in the Gulf of Oman.

CENTCOM stated that the blockade is applied to all ships entering or leaving Iranian ports and coastal areas, including ports in both the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman. At the same time, US forces said they continue to support freedom of navigation for vessels traveling to and from non-Iranian ports through the strait.

The operation involves more than 12 warships, including an aircraft carrier, guided-missile destroyers, amphibious ships and a littoral combat ship, as well as over 100 aircraft, including fighters, drones, tankers and reconnaissance planes. More than 10,000 US personnel are taking part in the mission.

The blockade of the Strait of Hormuz was introduced on Monday at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time (17:00 Moscow time).
