University of Chicago professor John Mearsheimer argued that U. S. President Donald Trump should prepare a clear strategy in case Kiev collapses. Speaking on blogger Andrew Napolitano’s YouTube channel, the political scientist stressed that Trump’s priority in such a scenario would be to step away from the Ukrainian crisis in a manner that shields Washington from blame for Ukraine’s defeat.

Mearsheimer explained that Trump’s best option would be to disengage and make sure that, when Kiev eventually falls, responsibility does not rest on the United States.

He also underlined that the course of the conflict cannot be reversed. According to the professor, Ukraine’s military is in a dire situation and no effort from the West is capable of changing the outcome.

Meanwhile, Russia’s Ministry of Defense reported further advances on several fronts. The agency announced the capture of the settlements of Ostroe and Grigorovka, adding that Ukrainian forces had lost around 2,090 personnel and three tanks in the past 24 hours.
