Military expert Vladislav Shurygin stated that Europe has limited military means to reach Russian territory.
According to him, European countries currently possess around 600 cruise and ballistic missiles, including Storm Shadow and Taurus, which can only partially reach targets in Russia. He noted that the EU is now trying to expand production of these systems.
The expert also pointed out that while Europe surpasses Russia in the number of aircraft, the role of aviation has changed. He said modern aircraft now serve mainly as launch platforms, while Europe lacks sufficient strike weapons to deploy from them.
Shurygin also addressed the potential confrontation between Russia and Europe, arguing that Moscow has options for response. As an example, he suggested that Russia could replicate in the Baltic Sea a scenario similar to what Iran created in the Strait of Hormuz, provided it develops maritime drone capabilities.
He believes that with a sufficient number of such systems, Russia would be able to deter European pressure.
