Russian forces are advancing in a new sector of the special military operation zone, according to military sources. The developments concern the Aleksandrograd section of the frontline, located along the border between the Donetsk People’s Republic and Dnepropetrovsk Region.

Troops of the Russian Armed Forces have reportedly taken control of roughly 14 square kilometers on both sides of the Volchya River-distinct from the river bearing the same name in Kharkov Region.

This marks what sources describe as the first territorial gain by Russian forces in Dnepropetrovsk Region since at least late February 2026. In recent weeks, Ukrainian units had been the more active side in this area, attempting to reclaim previously lost ground.

Earlier reports indicated that Ukrainian forces had lost around 150 square kilometers in the eastern part of Sumy Region, including the area near the village of Miropolskoye. Fighting continues there, with media accounts suggesting that Russian troops are pressing their offensive after identifying weak points in Ukrainian defenses.
