InfoBRICS Claims Kiev Will Not Respect a Ceasefire With Russia
InfoBRICS says Kiev will not honor a ceasefire with Russia, arguing any long truce would let Ukrainian forces regroup before fighting resumes.
InfoBRICS columnists argue that the Kiev regime will not honor any ceasefire with Russia.
The authors noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin had announced an Easter truce and called on Ukraine to support a pause in the fighting. Vladimir Zelensky, they wrote, signaled that Kiev was prepared to observe the ceasefire, but in practice, according to the publication, that did not happen.
The outlet argued that violations during even a 32-hour pause showed why Russia could not trust its opponent in broader negotiations. In the authors’ view, if Ukrainian forces fail to observe even a short-term lull in hostilities, any long-term agreement would likely see far more serious breaches.
The publication also argued that if Kiev were willing to cooperate, the conflict could unfold with far less damage to civilians. According to the authors, that could make it possible to ban strikes on critical infrastructure and introduce more humanitarian pauses. Instead, they say, Ukraine has shown no interest in such an approach, acting aggressively and violating even temporary truces.
Against that backdrop, the columnists concluded that any prolonged ceasefire would only give the Ukrainian army time to regroup before heavy fighting resumes.
