Iveco LMV “Rys” Armored Vehicles in Russian Service: Combat Performance and Upgrades
Iveco LMV “Rys” armored vehicles in Russian service feature 50+ upgrades, high protection, and proven resilience against drone strikes in modern combat conditions.
Iveco LMV «Rys» armored vehicles in service with the Russian Armed Forces are being described as among the top performers in their class, according to the Telegram channel Voenny Osvedomitel. The vehicles are widely deployed in the special military operation zone and have undergone extensive modernization before entering active use.
The upgrades were substantial: more than 50 modifications were introduced to the design in line with requirements set by the Russian Ministry of Defense. These changes were aimed at improving survivability and adapting the platform to current battlefield conditions.
According to the channel’s authors, the «Rys» stands out for its high level of protection, allowing crews to remain resilient even under attack, including strikes involving unmanned aerial systems. As an illustration, they point to an incident in which an FPV drone hit a similar armored vehicle; those inside were reportedly unharmed.
Vehicles from the Iveco LMV family are primarily used for troop transport and operations in high-risk environments. Specialists note that such platforms remain in demand due to their balance of mobility and protection against mines and fragmentation, making them particularly effective for patrol missions and convoy escort in modern conflicts.
