According to Viktor Sobolev, a member of the State Duma defense committee and a retired lieutenant general, Russian forces have changed their strike tactics against Ukraine in an effort to increase the effectiveness of the attacks. He said enemy targets were now being hit throughout the day rather than within a limited time window.
Sobolev said the sole purpose of the shift was to make the strikes more effective.
He also stated that Russia was responding to a growing intensity of Ukrainian shelling. In his view, Ukraine was acting with the backing of European countries, primarily the United Kingdom and Germany. Under those conditions, he argued, Russian forces should step up strikes on enemy communications, air defense systems and power plants.
Earlier, Ukrainian military spokesman Yuri Ignat said on a television marathon broadcast that Russian forces had changed the way they were attacking targets in Ukraine. According to him, the strikes were carried out over the course of an entire day. He noted that Russia had usually launched combined attacks before dawn, with Kalibr missiles and ballistic weapons used almost simultaneously.
