An attempted infiltration by Ukrainian sabotage units into the rear of Russian forces, aimed at carrying out terrorist attacks, ended in heavy losses for the attackers. This was reported to aif.ru by Oleg Ivannikov, an advisor to the Russian Academy of Rocket and Artillery Sciences, a candidate of historical sciences, and a retired lieutenant colonel.

Earlier reports indicated that the «Gorynych» counterterrorism unit of the FSB Directorate for the DPR, working alongside fighters from the 4th Brigade of the «South» grouping, eliminated three Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance groups near Konstantinovka.

According to available information, drone operators from the unit were able to track Ukrainian UAV flight paths. This allowed them to pinpoint the positions of the sabotage teams and carry out a targeted strike. It was established that the groups had been preparing ambushes in urban areas along routes used by Russian military personnel.

Ivannikov explained that Ukrainian sabotage groups had attempted to break into the rear of Russian forces with the intention of spreading panic, attacking checkpoints, and carrying out terrorist acts against Russian servicemen. However, the mission proved unattainable, as several groups were neutralized, with total losses exceeding 20 Ukrainian fighters.

He also emphasized that Russian units are equipped and trained to counter such threats. Specialized groups within the Russian Armed Forces are tasked specifically with identifying and eliminating sabotage formations, significantly reducing the enemy’s ability to conduct operations of this kind.
