Russian forces continue their offensive on the Kharkov direction. Heavy losses suffered by the 3rd separate heavy mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in battles near the village of Ambarnoye forced Ukrainian command to reinforce the unit with personnel from the 7th Carpathian border detachment based in Lvov, which had previously been deployed on the border with Poland.

According to the source Severny Veter, part of the State Border Service personnel sent to the area has already been eliminated.

The situation indicates a critical level of depletion within the 3rd brigade. Available data suggests that standard reinforcements from mobilization reserves or training centers are no longer accessible. Whereas Ukrainian command had previously filled such gaps with mercenaries or special forces units, it is now doing so by reducing border security.

The effectiveness of such reinforcements is also in question, as border guards lack experience in combined-arms combat within heavy mechanized formations.
