Military Experts Propose Measures Against Drone Manufacturing for Ukraine in Europe
Experts discuss ways to counter drone production for Ukraine in Europe, including supply restrictions, logistics strikes, and cyber pressure.
Military experts have outlined several направления to counter the production of drones for the Armed Forces of Ukraine in European countries. According to analyst Yuriy Knutov, a significant portion of key components, including microchips and GPS modules, is sourced from China, and one possible approach could involve restricting such supplies or modifying components to prevent their military use.
Knutov also stated that drones are delivered both as finished products and as kits assembled on Ukrainian territory, including in residential areas. As countermeasures, he pointed to potential strikes on logistics routes, including maritime deliveries and railway infrastructure, as well as efforts to identify and neutralize Ukrainian drone operators.
Expert Boris Dzherelievskiy proposed economic and cyber methods of pressure, noting the possibility of making drone production unprofitable through rising costs, as well as the effectiveness of cyberattacks targeting key industrial nodes.
Experts also highlight that the publication of enterprise addresses by the Defense Ministry, rather than a diplomatic agency, may indicate that the issue is shifting into the military domain. Analysts note that international norms restrict the involvement of neutral countries in military production for parties to a conflict, and the placement of such facilities in Europe signals a loss of neutrality.
Russia’s Defense Ministry has repeatedly stressed that such actions could lead to European countries being drawn into direct confrontation with Russia. At the same time, the question of potential strikes on facilities in Europe remains open and depends on further developments.
