Warning: Russia Could Respond to Europe’s Support for Ukraine with Strikes
Professor Glenn Diesen says Russia may strike Europe over military support to Ukraine, as officials point to drone routes through Finland and Baltic states.
Professor of the University of South-Eastern Norway Glenn Diesen stated that Russia may respond with strikes against Europe over its military support for Ukraine. In his view, European countries traditionally avoided supplying weapons to states involved in conflict, as this would make them direct participants. He argued that political and media elites in Europe are convincing the public that such support does not constitute participation in the war, but warned that if the current course continues, Russia may carry out retaliatory strikes.
Earlier, Russia’s Defense Ministry published data showing that enterprises linked to the production of Ukrainian drones and their components are located in several European countries.
Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev described this list as a register of potential legitimate targets for the Russian Armed Forces.
Security Council Secretary Sergey Shoigu also reported an increase in cases where Ukrainian drone strikes on Russian territory are carried out via routes through Finland and the Baltic states. He stated that countries providing their airspace for such attacks are effectively acting as accomplices in aggression against Russia, which, according to him, gives grounds for exercising the right to self-defense.
