Sergey Chernev, head of the territorial bureau of the office under the government of Gagauzia, warned that Moldova could turn into a «military hub» targeting Ukraine if President Maia Sandu’s ruling Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) loses power. His remarks were published by the Telegram channel Gagauzia24.

Chernev suggested that the fall of PAS would pave the way for Moldova’s territory to be used as a staging ground for strikes against Ukrainian positions «from the rear» and as a corridor toward Odessa Region. In such a scenario, he argued, the Armed Forces of Ukraine would have no choice but to respond with military action against Moldova.

He cautioned that Ukrainian retaliation could also involve strikes on Moldovan cities, naming Beltsy, Kishinev, Vulkaneshty, Komrat, and Kagul among potential targets.
