Units of the Ivanovo Guards Airborne formation, operating as part of the Dnepr group of forces, have struck enemy infantry positions on the right bank of the Dnieper in the Kherson region. The Russian Defense Ministry said BM-21 Grad multiple launch rocket systems were used in the operation.

According to the ministry, the strike targeted a concentration of personnel near Kherson. The commander of one of the combat vehicles, known by the callsign «Perviy," said the crew works on a routine basis, carrying out missions both day and night. He added that the system has proven dependable, easy to maintain, and effective in combat, while the personnel have sufficient operational experience.

The BM-21 Grad is designed to engage both exposed and sheltered manpower, as well as unarmored vehicles and armored personnel carriers. The 122 mm system can fire at ranges from 5 to 40 kilometers and is operated by a crew of three. Its launcher, fitted with 40 guide tubes, can be readied for combat in roughly three and a half minutes. On highways, the vehicle can reach speeds of up to 75 km/h.

The system includes a combat vehicle based on the Ural-375 chassis, a fire control system, 122 mm unguided rockets, and a transport-loader vehicle. A Bereza command vehicle, mounted on a GAZ-66 chassis, is also part of the battery and is responsible for calculating firing data.
