Russian forces have taken control of the settlement of Yunakovka in Sumy Region, the Ministry of Defense announced.

According to the statement, units of the «Vostok» grouping advanced deeper into Ukrainian defenses over the past week, capturing the villages of Berezovoe and Kalinovskoe in Dnepropetrovsk Region.

The ministry reported that heavy losses were inflicted on Ukrainian forces. Strikes targeted three mechanized brigades, one assault brigade, two territorial defense units, as well as marine and national guard detachments.

Ukrainian casualties were said to exceed 2,135 personnel. In addition, two tanks, 17 armored vehicles, 97 trucks, and 11 artillery pieces were destroyed. Russian forces also eliminated six electronic warfare stations and two ammunition depots.

Earlier reports suggested that soldiers of the repair battalion from Ukraine’s 125th Separate Heavy Mechanized Brigade, operating in the Sumy direction, were preparing to abandon their positions en masse after being reassigned by command to assault units.
