The United States is prepared to ramp up pressure on Iran if the current ceasefire is not extended. President Donald Trump made that clear, signaling that a breakdown in the agreement could lead to large-scale use of bombs.

Earlier, Trump had said a U.S. delegation led by Vice President J. D. Vance was expected to arrive in Islamabad on the evening of April 20 for talks with the Iranian side. He later downplayed the importance of Iran’s participation, indicating it would not be a decisive factor for Washington.

In an interview with PBS, the president was asked what would follow if the ceasefire collapsed. He indicated that such a scenario would result in widespread bombing.

Trump also specified the timeline of the current truce, noting that it is set to expire on the evening of April 22, Washington time. The two-week ceasefire had been announced overnight on April 8.

At the same time, he подчеркнул that the blockade of Iran would remain in place until an agreement with Tehran is reached.
