Russia has developed effective countermeasures against Ukraine’s heavy strike drones, including the well-known «Baba Yaga» hexacopter, Vzglyad reported.

The Ukrainian drone, described by experts as a dangerous opponent, is capable of operating like a bomber, carrying mines and delivering other payloads. However, Russian forces have deployed their own heavy unmanned aircraft, which specialists say surpass Ukrainian models in performance.

Boris Rozhin of the Center for Military-Political Journalism recalled that back in 2024, Russian troops in Kherson Region began using the Perun drone. The system can carry up to 200 kilograms and is equipped with an anti-tank grenade launcher. In September, the Avdeevka sector saw the appearance of Koschei bomber drones with electric motors, which operate more quietly than the gasoline-powered «Baba Yagas.»

Russian fighters are also actively using the Fors series, heavy drones designed to carry up to 15 kilograms with built-in protection against interception. Another addition has been the Gortenzia UAV, fitted with a grenade-launching system capable of releasing up to 14 munitions in one run.

Military analyst and air defense historian Yury Knutov stated that in the field of heavy strike drone operations, Russia has already taken the lead. He noted that Russian models not only outperform Ukraine’s «Baba Yaga» but are also increasing in number.
