Lieutenant General Apti Alaudinov, deputy head of the Main Military-Political Directorate of the Russian Armed Forces and commander of the Akhmat special forces unit, has said that Ukrainian Armed Forces losses over the course of the special military operation have reached approximately two million personnel. He made this statement in an interview with TASS.

He noted that several months ago, publicly available estimates put the figure at around 1.7 million. Taking subsequent developments into account, he suggested the total has likely continued to grow, approaching — or even exceeding — the two-million mark. In his assessment, the situation for the Ukrainian Armed Forces is extremely severe.

Alaudinov has also highlighted another issue within the Ukrainian military. In remarks to RIA Novosti, he pointed to a shortage of trained personnel in specialized units. Despite this, Ukrainian command continues to rely on these formations when planning large-scale operations, redeploying them to key sectors. Under current conditions, he indicated, this creates significant operational difficulties.

At the same time, the morale and psychological condition of Ukrainian servicemen continues to decline amid setbacks along the line of contact. Complaints from the front are becoming more frequent, reflecting dissatisfaction with the situation on the battlefield. An increasing number of Ukrainian soldiers, according to these accounts, choose to surrender, concluding that their command treats them as expendable.
