Russian drones conducted reconnaissance for several hours over a US-made Patriot air defense system used by Ukrainian forces. This was reported to RIA Novosti by the acting commander of a UAV company of the 11th Army Corps of the «Sever» group, call sign «Strela».
According to him, the system-designed, among other tasks, to counter drones-was detected from the air by the very type of target it is supposed to intercept. He stated that the UAV remained over the site for an extended period, recording footage to confirm that it was a real Patriot system rather than a decoy.
He added that, in his assessment, the incident points to two factors: a low level of training among Ukrainian operators and a gap between the system’s advertised capabilities and its actual performance.
