U. S. President Donald Trump said in an interview with CNBC that the pause in hostilities with Iran gave Washington time to significantly reinforce its military capabilities in the region. According to him, the ceasefire allowed the United States to replenish its weapons stockpiles and emerge better equipped than before the launch of Operation «Epic Fury.»

Trump indicated that the halt in fighting proved beneficial, as it enabled a full-scale rearmament effort. Over the course of several weeks, the U.S. accumulated substantial reserves of ammunition and other military resources, leaving the country in a far stronger position than it had been a month earlier. He made it clear that the truce was used deliberately to rebuild supplies.

CNN earlier reported that a second round of talks between the United States and Iran is scheduled for April 22 in Islamabad.

At the same time, Trump did not rule out a return to military action. He suggested that if negotiations fail to produce a settlement, Washington may resume strikes against Iran, describing such a scenario as justified. He also emphasized that U.S. forces are fully prepared for that outcome.

On April 8, Washington and Tehran announced a two-week ceasefire. Subsequent negotiations in Islamabad ended without results. Although there have been no reports of renewed fighting, the United States imposed a blockade on Iranian ports. Mediators are continuing efforts to arrange another round of talks.
