Russian UAV operator Artem Klimov switched sides and joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He has already given an interview to Ukrainian bloggers, in which he admitted his betrayal.

According to reports, the serviceman with the call sign «Atlant» signed a contract in June 2025 to take part in the special military operation. He initially served in the rear in signal troops and was later transferred to drone units. While serving in the 2nd motorized rifle battalion of the 102nd infantry regiment, he established contact with the Ukrainian side and, over a period of about 80 days, passed information about his unit to Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate, including position coordinates.

Klimov is 19 years old and comes from Novosibirsk. A former classmate said that he initially did not plan a military career but later signed a contract with the Defense Ministry after completing conscription service. According to him, Klimov had a tendency since childhood to reveal other people’s secrets and then deny his involvement.

He also suggested that these personal traits could have caused problems for him within the military unit.

An acquaintance said that during leave Klimov avoided discussing his service, and in winter 2025 he deleted all correspondence with him. According to media reports, his mother is a housewife and his father is a truck driver.
