BMPT Terminator: How a Five-Man Crew Shapes Its Combat Power
Discover how the BMPT Terminator’s five-man crew, advanced armor, and weapons system enable it to engage multiple targets and dominate the battlefield.
The tank support fighting vehicle (BMPT) «Terminator» draws attention not only for its firepower but also for its unusually large crew. Five people operate the machine — a choice that directly shapes how it performs in combat.
Each crew member has a clearly defined role. The commander assesses the battlefield and assigns tasks, setting the pace for the entire crew. The driver-mechanic handles movement, making full use of the tracked platform’s maneuverability. The gunner-operator is responsible for engaging targets with the main weapons, ensuring accuracy. Two grenade launcher operators complete the team: positioned under armor, they are tasked with covering the flanks.
According to Krasnaya Zvezda, this coordination allows the vehicle to engage multiple targets across different sectors at once, maintaining a dense and continuous stream of fire.
In terms of design, the «Terminator» is based on the T-90A tank and inherits its composite armor. Additional protection comes from the «Relikt» reactive armor system. Its armament includes twin 30 mm automatic cannons, a machine gun, automatic grenade launchers, and «Ataka» anti-tank guided missiles.
