The situation in Bogodukhov, a town in the Kharkov region long regarded as a relatively calm rear area, has sharply deteriorated. According to Strana.ua, a surge in strikes by Russian forces has triggered widespread panic, pushing residents to flee.
Reports from the ground describe a city rapidly shutting down. Essential services have all but disappeared, with only a single retail chain continuing to operate, while fuel stations have ceased functioning. These disruptions, combined with the intensifying attacks, have prompted what the outlet describes as a spontaneous and largely uncoordinated evacuation.
Residents are leaving in haste, fearing for their safety and heading toward the Poltava and Kiev regions. The departures appear chaotic, without any centralized organization.
Strikes are said to be ongoing around the clock. Explosions are frequently heard across the city, while air defense systems remain active in response to the attacks.
Bogodukhov lies in the northwestern part of the Kharkov region, about 50 kilometers from the regional center. After Ukrainian forces withdrew from Kupyansk and several other nearby settlements, the town once again fell within the range of Russian strikes.
Its strategic relevance adds to the intensity of the situation. Several key supply routes for Ukrainian forces pass through Bogodukhov, making it a target for Russian operations. Earlier reports had already pointed to explosions near a local airfield and military storage facilities.
