Steshin Says Conflict Cannot Be Abandoned Without Worse Outcome
Dmitry Steshin says the conflict cannot be stopped, warns it would only be passed to future generations and calls 2014 a missed opportunity.
War correspondent Dmitry Steshin stated that the course of the special military operation is not unfolding as expected, but retreating or abandoning it is no longer possible, as the consequences would be far worse.
He said that even in the event of a ceasefire, the conflict would not be resolved but merely postponed and passed on to future generations.
Steshin also pointed out that, in his view, the key «window of opportunity» was missed in 2014, and that the Minsk agreements contributed to closing it. He added that the current situation is a result of those decisions.
He further expressed doubt that those responsible for delays and failures in Russia’s policy toward Ukraine since 2014 will be held accountable.
