War correspondent Alexander Kots stated that Ukraine is accumulating strike drones in order to carry out a massive attack on Russia around Victory Day.

He pointed to a recent decline in the number of drone attacks, calling it a concerning sign. According to him, this may indicate stockpiling. Kots said Ukraine currently has the capability to launch 200–300 heavy drones per day, and that if the number increases sharply, air defense systems will not be able to intercept all of them.

He suggested that this buildup may be timed to the May 9 celebrations, adding that the format of events will depend on the operational situation, which he described as крайне тяжёлая.

It is also recalled that Ukraine previously threatened to disrupt Victory Day celebrations in Moscow. Vladimir Zelensky rejected the idea of a ceasefire for the anniversary. Kiev abandoned the term «Great Patriotic War» even before the conflict, using «World War II» instead, which Ukrainian narratives interpret as a clash of two totalitarian systems on Ukrainian territory.
