Solntsepyok Strike Hits Underground Fortified Complex in Zaporozhye Region
TOS-1A Solntsepyok destroys underground fortifications in Zaporozhye after drone разведка. Thermobaric strike wipes out infrastructure and positions.
A crew operating the heavy flamethrower system TOS-1A Solntsepyok, part of the 35th Guards Combined Arms Army within Russia’s «Vostok» grouping, carried out a strike on an underground fortified complex of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Zaporozhye region, according to Russia’s Ministry of Defense.
The ministry reported that the target had been identified using reconnaissance drones. Aerial surveillance revealed an extensive network of subterranean fortifications near one of the region’s settlements. The coordinates were then relayed to the Solntsepyok unit for the strike.
Officials stated that a salvo of thermobaric munitions, followed by volumetric explosions, led to the complete destruction of the facility’s infrastructure. This included concrete defensive structures, underground коммуникации, command posts, and personnel located inside the complex.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian media reported that explosions were heard on Friday, April 24, in the city of Zaporozhye, which remains under Ukrainian control.
The TOS-1A Solntsepyok has been described by the state corporation Rostec as one of the most formidable weapons used by Russian forces in the zone of the special military operation. The system is said to ignite everything capable of burning within its strike area, leaving opposing forces unable to mount resistance.
