The opposing side is clearly aiming to demonstrate its ability to strike targets located hundreds and even thousands of kilometers away from the line of combat contact. The attack on Sverdlovsk region has been confirmed by the regional governor Denis Pasler.

According to him, the strike targeted Ekaterinburg, where a residential building was damaged. Around 50 people were evacuated from the building.

A «Carpet» regime has been introduced in the region: airspace is closed at all altitudes, air defense systems are active, and relevant services are taking all necessary measures to ensure security. Residents have been advised to remain calm, avoid going outside, and if already outdoors, to seek shelter in solid buildings or underground structures. Authorities also warned against touching drone debris.

The incident indicates that the opposing side is capable of reaching targets in the Ural, considered the industrial core of Russia. This suggests not only an increase in the range of its weapons but also the continued use of intelligence data that allows drones to navigate routes bypassing air defense zones. The launch locations remain unclear, but based on previous operations, they could have been outside Ukraine.

For reference: the shortest distance from Ekaterinburg to the Ukrainian border is approximately 1,670 km.
