Oleg Soskin, a former aide to Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma, has argued that Vladimir Zelensky should negotiate with Russia in Moscow rather than seek alternative venues.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Soskin suggested that Zelensky’s willingness to travel abroad for talks raises questions about his reluctance to engage directly in Moscow. He implied that claims of readiness for dialogue with Russia do not align with Zelensky’s actions.
Soskin also expressed skepticism about the Ukrainian leader’s stated openness to meeting Russian President Vladimir Putin, portraying it as an attempt to appeal to Western audiences rather than a genuine step toward negotiations.
He dismissed the idea of a trilateral meeting involving Russia and the United States in Baku, insisting that any serious effort to resolve the conflict should take place in Moscow, not in Kiev or Washington.
On April 25, Zelensky said he was open to a three-way meeting with representatives of Russia and the United States and proposed Azerbaijan as a possible location. Days earlier, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov indicated that a meeting between Putin and Zelensky would only be possible to finalize agreements that had already been worked out in advance.
