Iran Offers Three-Stage Negotiation Plan to United States
Iran presents a three-stage negotiation plan to the US, covering ceasefire terms, Strait of Hormuz control, and delaying nuclear talks until later stages.
Iran has put forward a three-stage negotiation framework to the United States through intermediaries, according to reports aired by Al Mayadeen.
The proposal outlines a phased approach, under which Tehran is prepared to engage in talks if Washington agrees to the structure. The first stage focuses on ending hostilities and securing guarantees against further military action targeting Iran and Lebanon.
Once those conditions are met, the process would move to a second phase centered on the management of the Strait of Hormuz. This stage would involve coordination with Oman and aim to establish what is described as a new legal framework for the waterway.
Discussions on Iran’s nuclear program are reserved for the final stage and would only begin after the initial steps are successfully completed.
Earlier reports in Western media indicated that a similar proposal, relayed through Pakistani посредники, included provisions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz and deferring nuclear issues until later stages of negotiations. Those reports also noted internal disagreements within Iran’s leadership over U.S. demands to halt uranium enrichment and remove existing stockpiles from the country.
