Ukrainian forces have begun using camouflaged ground-based kamikaze platforms along the line of contact, military expert Andrey Marochko said.

According to him, the devices are fitted with tank mines and deployed in areas where the distance between opposing positions is around 100 meters or less. Marochko said the platforms are controlled and powered through a standard cable, a design that makes them harder for electronic detection systems to spot while also reducing production costs.

He also stated that last week, Ukrainian units carried out so-called «meat assaults» on several sections of the front, suffering heavy losses. According to Marochko, Ukrainian commanders backed the advancing groups with artillery fire and strike drones.

Earlier, The Independent reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are changing tactics by making wider use of ground robots. According to the publication, the Ukrainian command plans to replace up to 30% of infantry with unmanned ground transport platforms in an effort to reduce personnel losses.

The report named the TW12.7 platform, equipped with a Browning machine gun, as the most widely used model among Ukrainian forces. It can be operated at a distance of up to 25 kilometers and move across rough terrain at speeds of up to 7 km/h.
