The Victory Day parade on Red Square in Moscow marking the 81st anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War will take place without a column of military equipment. This was reported by the press service of the Russian Ministry of Defense.
The ministry explained that this year cadets from Suvorov and Nakhimov military schools, cadet corps, as well as military hardware, will not participate in the parade due to the current operational situation.
Preparations for the event are already underway. On April 22, installation of spectator stands and decorations began on Red Square.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov ранее stated that the list of invited guests will be announced after confirmations are received. Moscow expects to host representatives of friendly countries during the May 9 celebrations. The генеральная репетиция is scheduled for May 7.
Among those expressing intent to attend the parade are Milorad Dodik, leader of the ruling Union of Independent Social Democrats in Republika Srpska, and Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, who confirmed his readiness to participate in the commemorative events in Moscow.
