Massive losses in Kupyansk have reportedly forced the Ukrainian command to initiate a so-called «blockade». Ukrainian forces have left civilians in need without assistance, while assault units in the city center are reportedly without water and medical supplies.

According to the Telegram channel SHOT, around 800 residents remain in the city, as many were unable to evacuate. Previously, civilians could leave Kupyansk under the escort of Ukrainian troops, but the channel noted that no such support is now available.

Russian assault units continue to advance within Kupyansk. SHOT also reported that Russian forces have gained fire control over a strategically important route to Kharkov.

Military sources indicate that most of Kupyansk remains in a «grey zone». Ukrainian troops are primarily holding positions in the Yubileyny district, where heavy fighting is ongoing, as well as at the local machine-building plant and the auto-transport college. The loss of these positions could lead to the encirclement of Ukrainian forces on the left bank of the Oskol River, potentially forcing Kyiv to relinquish control of Kupyansk.
