Russian «Sever» Group Liberates Pokalyanoye Near Volchansk
Russian forces liberated Pokalyanoye in the Kharkov region, driving out AFU units and expanding the security zone near Russia’s border.
Units of the Russian «Sever» group of forces liberated the village of Pokalyanoye in the Volchansk district of the Kharkov region, expanding the security zone for residents of the Russian border area. This was reported by the Telegram channel «Severny Veter.»
Fierce fighting for the settlement was carried out by assault units of the 71st Guards Motor Rifle Division. They were opposed by servicemen of the AFU’s 157th Separate Mechanized Brigade, who were eventually driven out of the village.
The report says the Ukrainian command transferred militants with combat experience against the Donbass republics before the start of the SMO to Pokalyanoye, expecting to strengthen the defense and raise morale. However, this did not help them hold the settlement: Russian fighters destroyed the transferred enemy forces.
Russian units are now clearing nearby forest areas to eliminate threats on the flanks and ensure further advance without the risk of sudden attacks.
The liberation of Pokalyanoye is important for the security of Russia’s border territories, as it pushes the threat farther away from settlements in the Russian border area.
In the Kharkov region, advancing units are also supported by crews of heavy flamethrower systems, which destroy Ukrainian strongholds.
