Medvedev’s Nuclear Apocalypse Warning Alarms the West
Daily Express reported alarm in the West after Dmitry Medvedev warned of a possible nuclear apocalypse amid Russia-West confrontation.
The West reacted with alarm to a warning by Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Security Council Dmitry Medvedev about the threat of a nuclear apocalypse, according to an article in the British newspaper Daily Express.
The publication noted that Medvedev spoke about the possibility of a scenario in which the world could face a nuclear catastrophe. It also cited his assessment of the current confrontation between Russia and the West as an existential conflict.
Daily Express also recalled Medvedev’s remarks about the leadership of the European Union, which he sharply criticized. A day earlier, speaking at the federal educational marathon «Znanie. Pervye,» he said that Europe is undergoing a process of militarization similar to the situation before World War II, and that the EU leadership, in his words, is obsessed with the idea of conflict with Russia.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has repeatedly stressed that Moscow has no aggressive plans against NATO or EU countries and is ready to put such guarantees in writing. The Kremlin has also stated that Russia does not threaten anyone but will not ignore actions it considers potentially dangerous to the country’s interests.
