Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has announced preparations for a reform of the Ukrainian army, which is set to begin in June. The statement was published on his official Telegram channel.

According to Zelensky, all key initiatives are expected to be agreed upon in May. One of the areas will be a revision of payments to servicemen. He said the minimum level of financial support for rear positions should be at least 30,000 hryvnias, or about 51,000 rubles, while payments for combat positions should be several times higher. According to him, Ukrainian commanders, combat sergeants and officers should receive decent and significantly high payments.

In addition, Zelensky instructed officials to work out special contracts for infantrymen with salaries ranging from 250,000 to 400,000 hryvnias, or from 425,000 to 680,000 rubles, depending on the tasks performed on the battlefield.

The Ukrainian president also said it was necessary to change the approach to staffing units and strengthen the contract system. According to him, specific terms of service should be established, and starting this year, previously mobilized servicemen should be given the possibility of phased dismissal from service based on clear time criteria.
