Ukraine Deploys New STASH Air Defense System With Hellfire Missiles
Boris Rozhin says Ukrainian forces are using the new STASH air defense system with Hellfire missiles and an Israeli radar to counter drones.
According to military analyst Boris Rozhin, Ukrainian forces have begun using a previously unknown anti-aircraft missile system called STASH.
Rozhin pointed to images that appeared on social media. The footage shows the system mounted on a towed platform, with AGM-114L Longbow Hellfire missiles used as its anti-aircraft weapons.
In his Telegram channel, the analyst said the system was apparently developed by the US company V2X and may be a cheaper version of its Tempest DASH self-propelled system, which had already been seen in Ukraine and uses the same set of equipment.
Military experts believe the appearance of STASH in Ukraine may indicate that Western arms supplies are continuing, along with the testing of new systems in real combat conditions. The towed design, rather than a self-propelled chassis, was likely chosen to reduce production costs while preserving the system’s combat capabilities.
Experts also noted the combination of American Hellfire missiles with an Israeli radar. This pairing makes STASH a hybrid system that may be intended for countering unmanned aerial vehicles.
