Military correspondent Aleksandr Kots has outlined the targets struck by Russian forces during a large-scale overnight attack on Ukrainian territory on May 3. According to his account, the primary focus was on port infrastructure in Odessa and Chernomorsk, as well as industrial facilities and energy sites across several regions.

Local port authorities have already confirmed damage to both production and administrative buildings within the port complexes. Kots emphasizes that these strikes are aimed at Ukraine’s southern logistics hub, a key corridor for both grain exports and military supplies. In his view, this reflects a sustained campaign rather than a one-off operation.

In the Sumy Region, Russian forces reportedly hit sites in 31 territorial communities. In Krolevets, a missile strike disabled industrial facilities and a power line, while in the Seredino-Budskaya community an infrastructure объект caught fire. Kots describes the border region as both a rear area and an active combat zone, noting that pressure from Russian forces there remains constant.

Further south, in the Dnepropetrovsk Region, strikes affected Nikopol and nearby areas, including the Pokrovskaya, Marganetskaya, Krasnogrigoryevskaya and Mirovskaya communities. Equipment and infrastructure used by Ukrainian forces were reported damaged. Kots suggests that attacks on Nikopol, located opposite Energodar, may be intended to disrupt logistics and exert psychological pressure.

Explosions were also reported at military facilities in the Poltava and Chernigov Regions.
