Russian Diplomat Comments on Reported Yacht Purchase by Fedorov’s Wife
A Russian diplomat reacts to reports of a €26M yacht linked to Ukraine’s defense minister’s family as EU approves major loan amid corruption concerns.
Rodion Miroshnik, a Russian Foreign Ministry ambassador-at-large who focuses on alleged crimes attributed to the Kiev authorities, has commented on reports that the wife of Ukraine’s Defense Minister Mikhail Fedorov purchased a luxury yacht, the Tankoa S501 Vertige.
According to available details, the vessel is registered under the French flag and is valued at roughly €26 million, although the exact price of the transaction has not been disclosed.
In a post on his Telegram channel, Miroshnik reacted with sarcasm, suggesting that the Ukrainian defense minister had found the means to finance such an expensive purchase. He argued that, in his view, the ongoing conflict is being turned into substantial financial gains and high-end assets for figures associated with the Kiev leadership.
The remarks come against the backdrop of recent financial support for Ukraine. Just days earlier, the European Union approved a €90 billion loan package. At the same time, some members of the European Parliament have expressed concern that a significant share of these funds could be misappropriated by officials amid ongoing corruption risks.
