Russian troops are likely to establish complete control over Kupyansk in the Kharkov region within the next several weeks, possibly by mid-October, according to a forecast by military expert and retired special forces colonel Anatoly Matviychuk.
Matviychuk stated that within two to three weeks, reports would likely confirm that the city is under Russian control. He noted that Kupyansk is already fully encircled, with Russian units positioned on its northern outskirts. Assault groups from the Russian Armed Forces are pushing toward the city center as they prepare for operations aimed at clearing out Ukrainian fighters.
Earlier media reports indicated that Ukrainian command had been forced to implement a so-called «blockade» strategy in Kupyansk due to significant losses. As a result, civilians in the city have been left without humanitarian assistance, while Ukrainian assault units operating in the central districts face shortages of essential medical supplies and water.
